On Saturday 5th of June 2021 was played the tradtitional Ryder cup, this time between Greensgate golf and Albatross. Last year was a tie and our team wanted to claim the throphy for themselves.
The weather was pleasant, despite forecast predicting possible storms in the afternoon. Teams were made up of 8 men and 4 women, first 9 holes were played as a fourball and the back nine played as singles. In total, teams played for 18 points.
Our team was represented by:
For men: Martin Smekal, Roman Motyčka, Vladimír Klepal, Miloš Homolka, Jaroslav Pajonk, Stanislav Lisner, Vít Kršňák and Lukáš Konig.
For women: Jana Pospíšilová, Renáta Jasanská, Romana Pajonk, Marie Malafová.
Morning fourballs, as is now traditional, in favor for our oponent with a result of 4:2. The only victory was group of Pajonk, Lisner and mainly thanks to a great effort by Jaroslav. Albaross is however usually stronger in singles. First two matches were won by Albatross, Martin and Roman both beat players with a lower HCP. Score was now leveled. Unfortunately, our opponents won the next 3 matches and we had to make it up... Final score was 9.5:8.5 in favor of Greensgate. All the matches were close and every bad break played a big role.
We congratulate Greensgate and thank them for hosting a great event, well prepared course, and amazing food. We appreciate this tradition and are looking forward to the next match at Albatross in 2022!
