With winter season being in full swing, the Albatross golf resort team is busy preparing for the golfing season, which is coming in fast. Work is progressing both on the course and training facilities and also behind the scenes in the offices where new events and programs are being prepped.

Albatross Golf Resort has been a member of a prestigious European Tour Properties network for three years. ETP hosts every year a very special tournament called ETP Invitational. The last took place in December 2018 in Dubai in Jumeirah Golf, just a couple of weeks after the final tournament of European Tour - Race to Dubai.

Our young member Annika recently competed in a major European Junior Golf Tournament - the Sotogrande International Young Talents Trophy in Marbella.

Lukas and Klara have been both in top form recently but also Tobias and David were up to the job. Lukas managed to come even par and that was the best result of the day. He lowered his handicap to 2,2. Klara finished six over which was good enough to be at the 7th spot overall. Her new handicap is 6,0. Tobias scored 86 and David 89, both boys lowered this handicaps as well.

Monday July 16 was a very lucky day for Rob TRIPAS of the USA, who managed to score a Hole In One on the Hole No 7. He has become the first one to do so this year. Rob played at Albatross on Saturday and liked it so much so he and his freinds wanted to play it once more before going back to the US. And it paid off. To cover 180 yards he hit 4 Iron and could celebrate this rare moment.

Albatross Golf Resort hosted the Czech PGA SmartWings Championship 2018 in the past two days. The tournament is organized by the Czech PGA within the Moneta Czech PGA Tour 2018 and the main partner is Travel Service a.s. this year. 2 x 18 holes were played and 32 professional players took part. They had to fight, because the total prize money of CZK 400,000 was split up to thirteenth place.

We would like to inform you that our regular summer maintenance programme will take place in the first week of July, from 2nd to 4th July. We will start with aeration of the greens, tees and approaches with solid tines, followed by top dress. We will make sure that the whole process will be smooth and tidy with minimum disruption for the players.

Dear golfers,
Due to the cancellation of the European Tour event in August we are going to change our usual early July maintenance program slightly to ensure we disturb golf as little as possible. To do this we will stretch the whole program out over the whole month rather than heavy topdressing and aeration to the whole course in the first week. All the work will be fairly light and recovery can be expected in several days. Program: Greens, June 29/30, Approaches, July 7/8 Fairways, July 13-24.

As part of our environmental program we have been working with a world leading expert on improving the water quality in our lakes and rivers here at Albatross. Over the years nutrient levels have increased leading to a decline in water quality leading to murky water with outbreaks of foam and algae.

Or should I say lack of spring, since opening the weather has been incredible with numerous warm dry days perfect for golf. With this weather the irrigation system has been in overdrive and plenty of water has been used. Compared to last year we have received half the rain and had to use an huge amount of water more to keep up with water loss to the wind and temperature drying out the course.
